Box Lanterns, Round Lanterns And Other Wholesale Lamps
Lanterns are portable lighting devices that are intended to illuminate a wide area of space. The duplicity of lanterns is that they used to be an important source of light but now they are more commonly used for decoration or recreation. There are many types of lanterns from candle lit to kerosene to electric and even solar powered. For decorative purposes the candle lamp is ideal in the home, office or garden provided one is not depending on it for a light to read by. The many facets of a lantern make an enchanting option for wholesale lamps and candleholders. Variations on the old-fashioned candle lit lantern include European inspired box lanterns, Asian derived round lanterns, candle cages, hollowed out statuettes and hurricane lamps.
Box Lanterns
The convenience of a box lantern is that they look just as good hanging by their handle as they do sitting on an accent table. This is a western style of lantern that is characterized by four translucent walls and a roof. It is somewhat like a tiny shack meant for candles. For example a rustic wall lantern could be composed of a skeleton of distressed white metal with three glass windows and a glass door. The door would open by means of a latch so that a candle could be placed inside and the metal roof would be perforated to allow inside the oxygen that is a prerequisite for fire to combust.
Round Lanterns
Ancient Chinese lanterns were constructed out of paper, silk or hides stretched over a frame made of bamboo or wood. Even though they enjoy the art of the Orient many westerners are not comfortable with the idea of an open flame so close to a paper lantern. So for the purposes of candle holding they imitate the design of Asian lanterns using a mix of glass, metal and synthetic polymers. Round lantern candle holders fit right into Asian inspired decorating schemes as well as they add a splash of something different to eclectic themes.
Candle Cages
Candle cages are a type of lantern that can accommodate many candles at once. The idea is that even if there is not a small creature inside, cages are still wonderful frames for building centre pieces. Candles can be placed in an enclosure such as a bird cage along with some decorative gravel or even a plant to create an eye catching display. Other cages are designed specifically to hold candles under an upside down bowl shape that resembles a cake dish. Candle holder bird cages have an outside that looks like its name but inside there is an assortment of votive holders rather than a perch and cuttlebone.
Statuettes
Hollowed out statuettes make wonderful candle holders and lanterns because the light from the flame shines out through the holes in the design. With the advent of laser mapping technology these tiny treasures are becoming more popular and accessible than ever before. Picture a ceramic owl that has been moulded into the shape of a votive candle holder. With enough tiny holes in the owl's feathers the effect of putting a candle inside would be a charming bird shaped lantern. Since most lanterns and candle holders are square or round an owl shaped lantern is surely a prize to be had.
Hurricane Lamps
At La Vida we cannot get enough hurricane lamps. Every home or place of business should have at least one of these lanterns. The simplicity of a pillar candle inside of a glass container is achievably elegant and works with any design scheme. Hurricane lamps are so called because even the strongest gust of wind cannot blow out a candle inside of them. This makes hurricane lamps a spectacular choice for outdoor venues especially at meal times. Such lanterns work just a well indoors as part of a centre piece arrangement or standing alone upon a shelf, ledge or another flat surface.
