Doorstop - Owl
Most people like owls. They are the cheerful birds of the night that fly around catching small rodents to eat and peacefully hooting in the barn rafters. Although in some cultures they are associated with death, the owl has traditionally been used as a symbol of wisdom in the west. It is with this logic that one can assume that a doorstop shaped like an owl would make a treasured gift to a professor or teacher of any kind. Academic professionals are always leaving their office doors open for some reason. However the retro funkiness of an owl does not have to be only for our elders. Owls were a commonly used design aspect in the nineteen seventies that has stayed with us decades later.
