Our Plume frames seem as though they're made from alabaster stone, but they're actually fine reproductions that have a hand carved look and include some of the most popular motifs of the 17th and 18th century designs of Old France - the bead and the acanthus leaf.
The Plume frame begins with an elaborate embellishment at the apex of the arced top.
• A large realistic looking acanthus leaf furls up and out over the display area, with vertical scrolls beneath.
• Acanthus leaves on both sides of the central figure curl upward and downward giving the frame a sense of movement.
• A small cascade of coneflowers and bell flowers extend downward before reaching a repeating pattern of foliate forms that runs around the frame.
• Small carved bead detail in grey delineates the viewing area and is outlined by quarter round molding
• A narrow grey border finishes the outer edge of the frame.
