Our unusual Bahus Green Glass Vase has the feeling of a piece that's been around for centuries, maybe even since the beginning of glass blowing techniques that allowed colour to be added through the use of minerals.
The word bahu is actually Sanskrit and means daughter-in-law, so perhaps it was traditional to give or receive a vase like this one. No one seems to know the origin of the colour as it relates to glass and daughter-in-laws, but one thing is sure - it's brilliant and gem-like, resembling the rich deep mossy tones found in nature.
With the appearance of hand blown glass, the colour changes in density depending on how the bottle is viewed. A thick bottom curves up toward the interior, and the smooth rounded edges of this rectangularly shaped piece leads to a clean-cut narrow mouth. At 11 inches wide and 9 inches high, it makes a striking presentation in any decor.
