The owl is considered a sacred animal in Greek mythology to Athena, goddess of learning. It is depicted as symbol of intelligence, status and even wealth on certain Greco-Roman currency. In ancient Celtic, Hindu and Egyptian cultures, symbolism of the owl related to guardianship of underworlds, along with protection of dead people.
This sign 'Hanging Owl Heart' features an owl made using white material, with a black heart at the centre. Two eyes are keenly crafted out of black material as well with golden balls clearly visible to the observer. Hanging to the bottom are two feet, which seem to be of fading brown/black. The owl was clearly an animal of honour in ancient cultures and this sign easily reminds the observer of an eye which is always open. Since this bird is known mostly for hanging on two feet in apparently precarious positions, this sign should quickly capture the attention of any observer.
